Get to Know DRP Marketing + Influencer Content Strategist

Meet Chyna Inez Davis

What was your first job? What skills from that job do you use today?

My first job was at the Norwalk Health Department! I spent a few summers there throughout high school.

At the time, my father worked in the healthcare industry. I thought I would follow in his footsteps but later decided writing was my thing! I learned the value of organization and project management - two key universal traits for any job.

What do you enjoy most about this industry?

In the writing industry, everything is trial and error. There's no such thing as perfect. I love that I'm constantly being challenged and learning something new - whether it's in marketing, healthcare, tech, business, or other industries.

Copywriting and content writing has evolved from solely publishing a blog or whitepapers. There's value in seeing how it can be optimized to reach more audiences and retain a following. It might take a bit of time to do, but it's worth it!

Tell us about someone who has inspired you or helped you along the way? How has that person impacted your work today?

So many people have inspired and helped me along the way. I've been fortunate to have a great group of mentors and peers that encouraged and backed the professional path I'm on now. They've given me advice on how to turn my errors into wins and bring my passions to life. I'm very grateful for that.

What is something you wish you'd known before entering your line of work?

Over time I've learned that the writing industry (journalism especially) is not a linear career path. I've pivoted between editorial writing, feature writing, and roles in communications, email marketing, and digital marketing.

But, I'm glad I didn't know that before entering my line of work. It led me to an incredible team at Digital Retail Partners.

Why is this role perfect for you?

At DRP, no two days are alike. I love that I have a balance between copywriting, social media, and other tasks. I'm learning and receiving so much support from the team.

What are three things you like to do outside of work?

  1. Artwork (pottery, sculpting, painting) 🖌️

2. Rollerskate / Nature walks when I have downtime 🛼

3. Travel 🛫
