Inspiring Clients: People.com Features Madison Street Bakehouse

I met Shareena Casterline, founder of Madison Street Bakehouse for the first time at a little coffee shop in midtown. It was our first "business" meeting and she was overflowing with energy and ideas about her new company. Not only did her Maddy cookies taste good but they were simply beautiful, hand-made with her passion for life and baking. I instantly knew she would take this dream and turn it into a real business. Fast forward a little over a year and today she is featured on the first episode of AMERICAN DOERS, a new 12-part video series on People.com featuring original thinkers, innovators, craftspeople, risk-takers and artisans across the United States. Read more about her inspiring story and watch her episode from People.com. DRP Design congratulates Shareena on her well deserved and hard earned success.

"Given up by her biological parents when she was 3, the baker was shuffled from group homes to foster care. At 10 years old she found a home with the Casterline family in Denver, Colorado and was Inspired by her father, Larry Casterline, who catered in his spare time."

“As a toddler, I would pretend I owned a bakery in Paris or New York,” she says. “Never in my wildest fantasy did I think it would happen.”

"After graduating culinary school in 2012, a determined Casterline moved to Manhattan to pursue her lifelong dream. She opened an online bakery, Madison Street Bakehouse, in 2015 and hasn’t looked back since.

She sells a single product through her e-commerce site – the “Maddy” cookie made from roasted ground almonds with notes of citrus and Madagascar vanilla. And with a steady increase of clientele (and the upcoming holidays!), Casterline expects her sales to increase exponentially.

Although Larry has since passed away, Casterline is sure her dad would be proud of her accomplishment."

“I’m just out here doing me,” she says. “I’m living my dream.”
