Get To Know DRP Graphic Designer

Meet Seamus Sullivan

What was your first job? What skills from that job do you use today?

My first job was working in a greenhouse caring for all of the plants when I was 16. As a young teen male I naturally knew nothing about plants, I just enjoyed working outside all of the time. As time went on I came to appreciate different plants and their colors which started the spark of becoming a designer.

What do you most enjoy about your job?

The thing I like most about being a designer is the freedom of creativity. I think of the designer role as working with puzzles of all sizes, just putting pieces together until you have the whole thing. Once you're finally done with the puzzle you get to admire the finished project as well as the time and effort that went into completing it.

Tell us about someone who has inspired you or helped you along the way? How has that person impacted your work today?

When I was a freshman in college, I followed a lot of up-and-coming streetwear brands and needed to pick a major to pursue. I started my own clothing brand which was my first step into the world of design. I knew as soon as I started designing my first t-shirt that this is what I wanted to do.

What are three things you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy salt and freshwater fishing, going to Fenway Park & TD Garden to watch the Sox and Bruins, and visiting local breweries and trying different craft beers.

Why is this role perfect for you?

The most important thing to me about my role is that I have the freedom to create. Here at DRP, my skill set is constantly growing and improving. Before I started this role, I had very little knowledge of video editing and print material. DRP allows me to step out of my comfort zone to learn new skills that I will use for the rest of my career. I find finishing a project, especially after a long time and a lot of edits, to be very satisfying.
